Bangladeshi terror group plotting in Bengal, Assam, Tripura: NIA’s explosive chargesheet

In a stunning revelation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has claimed that the banned Bangladeshi terrorist group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JMB) is weaving a web of conspiracy across Assam, Tripura and West Bengal.

The central investigationg agency made these claims recently while filing a charge sheet against 11 individuals in a case at the NIA court in Guwahati invoking multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Following the investigation, the NIA said that the accused were associated with an organization named ‘Imam Mahmud-er Kafila’ (IMK).

According to the central agency, top JMB leader Imam Mahmud Habibullah had reportedly formed the IMK to expand its footprint with the intention of propagating the radical group’s ideology across the North-East, including these three states.

The NIA claimed that the primary objective of this newly formed group is to spread anti-India propaganda by expanding its network. The investigation revealed that the IMK has recently recruited its members through various channels and is actively working to foster loyalty among them towards the leadership of both the IMK and the JMB.

The NIA has named Nasimuddin, the head of IMK’s operations in Assam, in its chargesheet. The investigating agency has also claimed that one Jagir Miah has been entrusted with the responsibility of managing its organisational activities in Tripura.

During the investigation, the NIA seized several crucial documents, electronic devices, and digital data, suggesting unlawful activities of the IMK – all of which have been submitted to the court.
